Direct assistance
In order to assist all women in regaining their power when faced with the consequences of a sexual assault, CALACS de l’Est du Bas-Saint-Laurent offers direct assistance with individual or group accompaniment, support for legal proceedings and support for relatives. All our services are confidential, free and open to anyone over the age of 12. It is not necessary to file a complaint to benefit from our support.
Prevention and awareness
Promoting prevention and awareness is a primary focus for CALACS de L’Est du BSL in order to act upstream against sexual assault, to help victims and their relatives seek help and to raise public awareness. We have developed thematic workshops, training and communication tools. They aim to dispel myths and misconceptions, identify sexist stereotypes, while highlighting the vulnerability created by cross-discriminations of sexism, heterosexism, racism, classism, ageism and ableism among adolescents, women and members of the LGBTQ2+ community.
Collective action
The CALACS de l’Est du Bas-Saint-Laurent is dedicated to social, political and legal change to put an end to sexual assault and gender-based violence. We are advocating for the rights of all women and all people who have been victims of sexual assault. But more than that, our intersectional perspective leads us to get involved in many actions that aim for more socio-ecological justice in Québec and throughout the world.
Programming
Throughout the year, the CALACS de l’Est du BSL offers workshops and activities for and by women. By relying on several forms of mediation (discussions, documentaries, arts, rituals, outdoors, etc.), we offer these confidential spaces of support and solidarity for all, to regain power intimately and collectively.
